We are so proud of all the children and how hard they are working. We hope you enjoy sharing all of our wonderful learning experiences.
Homework and Spellings will be handed out on a Friday and collected in the following Thursday. We believe that homework is important to help the children consolidate their understanding of what we have been learning that week. Please can you remind your child to place their homework into the homework box.
We will be sending spellings books home so you can see your child's achievements. Please make sure these are brought back into school the next day.
Reading books can be changed as often as the children wish as long as their reading diary has been signed to say that they have read at home. If your child is not enjoying a particular book, we are happy for them to choose another. Please use the question prompts sent home to support your child when reading.
Reading for pleasure is a key part in developing a child's love and enjoyment of reading. We would encourage you to share stories at home with your child and encourage them to read a variety of books, as well as their school reading book. On a Monday afternoon, we will check the children's reading record book in the hope they have read 5 times a week at home. Their name will then be placed into the golden box.
P.E will be on a Thursday morning. Please ensure that P.E kits are in school.
During summer term, Year 1 will be attending swimming lessons on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child has a plain swimming costume/swimming trunks, school swimming cap, towel and goggles. A swimming cap can be purchased from the school office.
We have a a new friend visiting year 1 this Christmas. Let's see what he get's up to.
Well done for reading more than 5 times a week! Keep it up!
We had a surprise visit from some furry friends from 'Rescue Birds'. We loved holding them, even Miss Sudworth got a turn.
We all laid a stone in remembrance of all British military personnel who lost their lives during World War 1.
We loved going on an autumn walk in the forest. Look what we found!
Thank you to all the children in Year 1 who took the time and effort to create their own toy at home. They were amazing! We all loved playing with each others toys.
We loved meeting Charlie today, our school reading dog. We gave him lots of cuddles and enjoyed playing with him in class. We can’t wait for him to hear our super reading after half term.
Congratulations to Ruby and Joe, for being our Children of Excellence for the theme of Thankfulness.
We finished our writing topic by creating the lair that Superworm was captured in. We have some very creative children in our class.
Year 1 learnt how germs can travel around and how important it is to wash your hands. We gave some great demonstrations today. Well done Year 1, you are super hand washers.
Look what we made! Teamwork.
We learnt a song called Che Che Koolay, that comes all the way from Africa. We had so much fun learning the words and playing the beat with different percussion instruments.

We are really pleased with the way the children are settling in to Year 1. They look very smart in their uniforms, have lovely manners and are working very hard. What a great start! Keep it up!
What a fantastic day we had at the Liverpool Museum. We enjoyed exploring old and new toys, especially the dressing up costumes and the table top spinners. Everyone was enthusiastic and loved every minute of it. We gained lots of new and valuable knowledge that we took back to school with us and we couldn’t wait to share our day with everyone.
