Year 4 had an amazing time yesterday, learning outdoors on our school field with the Rangers from Halewood Park.
Year 4 enjoyed our Hinduism workshop. We had great fun learning about a different religion. It was a great experience. Have a look at the pictures to see what we got up to.
We have been looking closely at food miles which is the distance food travels from the producer to the consumer. We created a recipe for a 'Global Fruit Salad' and created a persuasive poster to encourage people to buy it. We have researched the distance each type of fruit travels to get to our supermarket. We loved using atlases to help us locate the producing countries and then thinking closely about the benefits and problems with trade.
We have really enjoyed black history week this year. We have researched many facts about significant people including William Wilberforce, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Barack Obama. We then placed our dates in chronological order on a timeline.
We are very thankful for those significant people who were brave and stood up for justice.
We have had a lovely first few weeks together in Year 4. Well done to all of our fantastic children for settling in brilliantly! We are very proud of you all! Keep it up!
Year 4 have been enjoying our 'Powerful Monarchs' topic in explore to learn. We have enjoyed chronologically ordering monarchs by the period of their reign. We researched and looked closely at Henry VIII placing key events in chronological order on our own timeline.
Year 4 are very lucky to have Mrs Hughes for music every Friday afternoon. So far we have been listening and moving to different styles of music, singing and beginning to play instruments in time with a beat.
