Wonderful Anglo- Saxon homes made by Year 5.
Well done to everyone for their amazing talks! We have such confident and clear speakers. Some even managed to plan activities to get the whole class involved. Mrs Catt and Miss Taylor have loved listening to them and finding out much more about everyone of you and all of your gifts and talents that you have been blessed with.
During the last week of the Spring term we enjoyed learning more about the key parts of the Easter story. We made our lovely Easter cards using water colours. We were very lucky to attend an Easter journey experience at Bridge Chapel where we walked through the the key parts of the Easter story. Thank you everyone for reminding us the true meaning of Easter.
WOW! What an experience! Well done year 5 for learning all of the words and actions to a number of songs and performing them alongside 2 other schools in a wonderful performance. Wonderful memories! Thank you to all involved!
Well done to all of Year 5 and their parents for amazing costumes on World Book Day. Can you tell who is who?
A wonderful day using the iPads to research and create presentations about Anglo-Saxon life. We even got the opportunity to use green screen to present our presentations with. We really enjoyed watching them back.
We certainly worked hard today! All of Year 5 took part in an hour session of circuit training. We certainly worked all different muscles in our bodies. We had a brilliant time encouraging each other! Well done everyone!
We really enjoyed learning about Buddhism during our world faith day.
How good is your balance?
Year 5 have just finished their gymnastics work in PE. We have certainly improved many skills over the past few weeks. We can perform many different types of balances and have improved our teamwork, ways to travel smoothly around the room and our transitions from one part of our routine to the next. Our final sequences were amazing!
A wonderful geographical debate in class 5! Everyone undertook a certain role and represented a different group of people who would be involved. We had the council, environmentalists, local families, local shop owners and many more. We really got into role and thought about all of the possible advantages and disadvantages for the building of a new supermarket on a lovely open park. How would you feel about this?
Do you know all of you Ordnance Survey Map symbols?
Year 5 had great fun in geography sorting out map symbols to their matching name. We are now ready for any adventure and we could lead the way and understand all map symbols.
Play in a Day on our Christian Value of Responsibility
Year 5 learnt a whole play in just one day. Thank you Natasha! We all had a wonderful day. We enjoyed learning more on our Christian Value of responsibility and enjoyed sharing our ideas with the whole school in such a fun way.
Some year 5 children were very privileged to have receive some training on how to be a good play leader. They learnt important skills about leadership and a few quick games that every child on the yard would want to be involved in. Every lunch time these children are brilliant role models for the rest of the school. They are wonderful at modelling to our younger children how to play fairly and kindly. Well done team!
Wow! Well done to all Year 5 children! We are very proud of you all. You all learnt your lines in such a short space of time and spoke with clear voices full of expression. You had super singing and pretty cool dancing too. Your costumes were amazing! We certainly have some actors in the making. We would also like to say a big thank you to all of our wonderful parents for providing their child's costume. Thank you!
Year 5 were privileged to take part in 'A Play in a Day'. It was all about WW2. We had a fantastic, busy, fun filled day. Lots of speaking and acting. We learnt a whole play in a day and enjoyed performing to the whole school. We certainly have amazing actors in our class!
We have been learning all about WW2. We have looked closely at the different propaganda posters that were issued. We looked carefully at slogans such as 'Dig for Victory' and 'Make do and Mend' and thought carefully about their meaning. We then had great fun designing our own posters.
Full of exciting sentence types to make our writing interesting and detailed. There are even rhetorical questions to draw our reader in. Always thinking about the reader! Have a read of the beginning part of some of our stories. Enjoy.
This half term we have looked at novels written by the same author. We looked closely at Jeremy Strong's writing style. We loved reading his stories because of the humour and the way he addresses the reader. We brainstormed the ways he makes his characters come alive and builds a picture for the reader through the characters actions and speech. We will be writing our own story following a similar style. Look out for some of our finished ones soon!
Year 5 had been out and about in our wonderful school grounds helping to make sure it is all well looked after. We really enjoyed our time outside and getting stuck in. Great learning about the outdoors.
Year 5 have had a wonderful experience for two days. We learnt how to ride our bikes safely on the road and practised some goor riding skills. Well done everyone!
