Year 5 have been looking at writing a set of instructions. We really enjoyed our 'Lego House' lesson. The children had 10 minutes to build their own lego house before writing it up as a set of instructions. This was a big hit! Everyone loved building with lego.
This term we became 'Fraction Freaks'. We all worked very hard to become super confident with fractions. Our favourite lesson was adding and subtracting fraction with different denominators. All of our children achieved a gold sticker for being really confident with this skill. Well done Year 5!

In our music lessons we have been listening with attention to the different instruments that are used in music. We have also looked at different songs and their history. Our favourite song has been 'Living on a Prayer'. We enjoyed putting some actions to the song. We hope you enjoy our little performance.
World Book Day
Well done everyone! You all looked fantastic for our world book day. Well done to those children who joined in with our class book swap. We hope you are enjoying reading your new book.
Junior Leadership Team In Action!
Our Year 5 Junior Leadership team carried out a survey. The survey was asking our children if they would like the option to buy a healthy snack/ breakfast bar during morning play. They showed great team work skills: listening to each other; making sure they all had a say and a vote; asking some great questions about the idea of buying snacks. We will wait to see what the outcome is.
Year 5 went away for 2 nights and 3 days to Robinwood. Everyone had a wonderful time and developed a wide range of skills including: listening, communication, cooperation, respect, encouragement, problem solving skills and teamwork. All of our children were enthusiastic and loved every activity. They participated in a number of activities: night line, climbing, bouldering, crate challenge, archery, dungeon of doom, alien conspiracy walk, trapeze and the piranha pool. Children conquered fears and looked after each other. They have taken away many memories for life. Well done Year 5!
During the autumn term children will need to have their PE kit in school every Thursday. The children have been advised to leave their kits in school throughout the week and take them home of a weekend. At times our PE day could change.
Congratulations Year 5 for a fantastic Autumn term. We all enjoyed our treat of watching a film and enjoying some popcorn. Our class chose to watch 'The Nativity'. We would like to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Well done Year 5 for all of you hard work, support to each other, enthusiasm and progress with your writing this term! You should all be very proud of yourselves! Well done!

He shared all of his memories and experiences of the war. Thank you so much for coming in and sharing this information. This brought the children's learning to life.
Year 5 have loved playing a range of games this term. They have focussed on gymnastics and been learning about different skills and techniques to use in a sequence. They have learnt about cannon, counter balance, mirroring and counter weight and counter tension. Our final sequences were amazing.
