Letter to Parents/Carers from Jill Albertina Assistant, Executive Director (Education and Early Help)

11th December 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

As we near the end of the Autumn term, I just wanted to thank you for your continued support, particularly given the extremely challenging year we have had.

I have been very impressed with how pupils have settled back into the school routine following months away from the classroom. They have been keen to catch up on any missed learning and they have really worked hard over the last few months. It is lovely to hear about the progress pupils are making and that they are enjoying being back in the school environment.

This wouldn’t have been possible without your support and I know our school staff are very appreciative of your continued support. Our schools are continuing to provide the safest learning environments for your child and this work will continue. Whilst our figures are reducing, we can’t be complacent and the pandemic isn’t yet over. We all need to continue with our new daily routines which include regular hand washing, maintaining social distancing, wearing a face covering when dropping off and picking up at school and carrying a tissue to catch coughs and sneezes.

I hope I can rely on your support too for a safe Christmas by continuing to follow the rules. Some restrictions are being lifted from 23 to 27 December to allow family and friends to see each other. During these five days, you can create a Christmas Bubble with no more than 3 households meaning you can meet in households (but not in other indoor settings such as pubs or restaurants). Tier 2 restrictions resume on 28 December and people from different households will not be able to mix in any indoor setting.

From Monday 14 December, the rules are also changing around self-isolation. People who test positive, along with people in their household, support bubble and close contacts need to self-isolate for 10 days. Previously, it was 14 days for close contacts so this is a positive step and will hopefully be less disruptive on your child’s education.

Finally, thank you once again for your continued support and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very safe and Happy Christmas.

Best wishes,

Jill Albertina
