Roald Dahl Day

Roald Dahl (1916-2000)

Roald Dahl had an amazing talent for writing!

Children love his books – they adore the humorous stories, the quirky characters and the marvellous, invented language of ‘gobblefunk’!

His stories have been brought to screen and theatre (e.g. ‘Matilda’ and ‘The Twits’) and these are fantastic, but, children should also read the books to get the full story (preferably before they watch!).  The books give so much more detail than the media could ever do!

Each year, he continues to be one of the most popular authors for children.

Surveys show that his books consistently rank in the top five of the most read books each year.  He often tops the list or achieves a close second place.

So, it should come as no surprise, that this amazing achievement is celebrated each year on the date of his birth – the 13th September – Roald Dahl (Dahl-icious) Day.
