We hope you enjoy sharing all of our wonderful learning experiences.
Monday - P.E.
Thursday - Swimming - Please remember to bring a towel, costume and school swimming cap.
Monday - Spellings will be sent home. They will be tested the following Monday (Please return spelling books on Monday). Inside the front cover of your child's spelling book are some ideas to help children to learn their spellings. It is also helpful for the children to put the words into a sentence.
Wednesday - Reading comprehension - Please read the text with your child and help them to answer the questions. The texts will sometimes seem very challenging, however it is important for the children to discuss texts beyond those that they can read independently. It is better to do little and often, rather than trying to complete the whole activity in one go especially at the start of Year 2. Answers do not have to be written in full sentences. Please return the completed comprehension task the following Wednesday, as we will mark them with the children on Thursday.
Friday - Maths or grammar - Please return on Thursdays to allow us time to mark and prepare the next homework.
Reading books - Can be changed as often as the children wish as long as their reading diary has been signed to say that they have read at home. If your child is not enjoying a particular book, we are happy for them to choose another. There are lots of supporting documents to help you when reading with your child in the Year 2 homework pack.
Thank you in anticipation for your support.

World Faith Day - Hinduism
This week the children will be learning about Hinduism. It would be helpful if the children could complete their reading comprehension homework which is all about Hinduism before their workshop on Friday. Thank you.
Each Friday the children take the times table 5 minute challenge. The aim is to increase the number of questions they complete and the number of correct answers each week. I will be sending home the children's scores so that you can see how they are getting on. Please practice x2, x5,x10 and x3. There are lots of great websites - see our LCQM page to help with times tables. One of the common misconceptions I've picked up is 5x0=5. Please remind the children that if they multiply by 0 their answer will be 0. Thank you for your support.
There's just a few weeks left before we reach the end of this term's time challenge. Can your child read the time to the nearest 15 minutes, or even better to the nearest 5 minutes?
