Through dedication and team work, the children have managed to earn all 20 stars. Together they voted for a class treat and what better than hot chocolate and a film.
Christmas Journey Experience
We were very fortunate to visit a magical Christmas experience at Bridge Chapel this week. The children learnt all about the true meaning of Christmas.
Healthy Eating
We had a visit from the school nurse to help us understand different food groups and why a balanced diet is so important. We were all shocked to find out just how much sugar is in some of our favourite drinks and the impact that can have on our teeth (19 teaspoons in a bottle of coke!). The children were very pleased to take home a new toothbrush and toothpaste to help protect their new adult teeth.
Information Texts
Year 2 have loved exploring features of information texts and producing their own text to inform readers about the impact of plastic pollution. They have worked with buddies to edit and review writing, as well as presenting researched information to their peers. The children then produced leaflets and e-books. This topic has provided many talking opportunities about global issues involving plastic pollution and the impact it is having.
The children were keen to inform others about how they can help reduce plastic waste by delivering a whole school collective worship. Keep up the super work!
Writing Buddies
Year 2 and 5 paired up to share some of their fantastic writing about a mysterious door into a secret garden. The children were extremely supportive of one another and offered many positive comments. Year 2 were delighted to hear so many wonderful things about their writing and presentation.
Child in Need
Remembrance Day
Year 2 had a very thought provoking day during our whole school remembrance service and two minute silence. As we gathered together, we shared prayers, poems and memories of people and family members that have lost their lives due to war. The children painted a pebble (each one representing 2000 people) and wrote heartfelt diary entries about this special day. We will remember them.

Times Tables Rockstars
The children are enjoying battling against one another to become our first Rock Hero. They are constantly challenging themselves to beat their own high score. Parents please encourage the children to access this app at home to support confidence and pace with timetables. Well done Year 2 boys who won the battle. Come on girls, you can do it!
Attendance
WOW! Another week of 100% attendance! We are delighted to have had yet another week of full attendance. Thank you parents for encouraging great attitudes towards school and learning.
Artists in the making
We have enjoyed experimenting with colour and different painting techniques in art. We are looking forward to researching about Vincent Van Gogh and looking closely at his painting techniques and style.
Reading superstars
Charlie the reading dog
Year 2 love their weekly visitor, Charlie. He brings lots of smiles and happy memories into our classroom. When he's not napping, we love reading stories to him.
Road Safety
Thank you Annette for visiting us to talk about road safety and how to stay safe near a road. The children were able to shares any queries and questions in a safe, open environment. Year 2 have been extra vigilant when walking to and from swimming to ensure we are safe near the busy roads.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Museum
The children had a brilliant time at Merseyside Fire and Rescue Museum to support their learning and understanding of Year 2's topic 'The Great Fire of London'.
The children experienced a trip through history learning about the brave fire fighters that have spent years protecting people and communities in Liverpool. The children were able to discuss how fire fighters uniforms have changed, looking for similarities and differences.
